France is famous for many things, such as Paris and all that comes with that most cosmopolitan of cities. It is also famous for the stunning Cote d’Azur with the sandy beaches and warm Mediterranean climate. France is also a great destination for those who love to ski, with a great number of stylish resorts to choose from to enjoy the perfect winter holiday.
Courchevel – Often considered to be one of the best ski resorts to visit in France Courchevel is at the top of a range of staggered villages and set within breathtaking natural scenery; the villages are all linked up by the ski lifts and ski buses that connect the area. Courchevel continues to be a favourite ski resort for many because there are a great variety of opportunities for skiing and other winter sports here. Slopes range from beginner to advanced and it is a good place to bring children to. If you don’t want to ski you can snowboard, toboggan or ice skate at Courchevel and for the apres ski experience the resort boasts a good range of quality bars and restaurants.
Chamonix – Chamonix is one of the first resorts people think of when they think of skiing in France. This internationally renowned ski town is set below Mont Blanc – the highest mountain in Europe – and is just a short drive away from Geneva. This is a good resort for experienced skiers and beginners alike. It is famous for its cosmopolitan ambience with lively nightlife and cool bars and restaurants.
Val d’Isere – Val d’Isere is a renowned spot within the French Alps for avid fans of skiing. This high altitude, large resort boasts 97 ski lifts in all and is great for those who also enjoy a spot of off-piste skiing. The Olympic 1992 Men’s Downhill slope is here and Val d’Isere has also been the location for the World Alpine Ski Championships. You can also enjoy ice-skating, snowshoe hiking, ice climbing and husky sleigh trips at this resort.
Les Deux Alpes – Les Deux Alpes is a bustling ski resort that is popular with families. There are some excellent facilities for children and cr?�ches that will take very young children so the rest of the family can enjoy a full day of skiing worry free. This cosmopolitan resort has a wide range of bars and restaurants and you can even find a traditional English pub here. There are lots of slopes for both the experienced and the beginner skier with everything else in between!
Flaine – This popular resort is very popular with families as there are great facilities for the young skier, starting from age two and a half upwards. Flaine resort faces Mont Blanc and has an altitude of 2500m; there are 265 km of pistes for you to experience. There are also opportunities for cross-country skiing. There is plenty of family oriented nightlife and entertainment to enjoy in Flaine making this a great all round resort for a holiday.…
